I’ve Been Here Before: The Conflict Between Purpose and Provision

“A good man leaves an inheritance for his children’s children.” I’ve been here before – at the edge of a promise, Telling God I’d walk straight this time, Asking not for riches, but for clarity. Not starving, not rich – just… aware. Aware of my inconsistency, my wandering. I want to be good. But I have danced with the world’s rhythm too often. They say a good man leaves something behind — Land, name, legacy. But doesn’t that demand money? Doesn’t inheritance require wealth? If so, then is chasing wealth a holy thing? Or am I fooling myself trying to be righteous with ambition in my chest? I wrestle with the line. Legal or illegal, money corrupts if the heart is unguarded. Even pure gain can turn greedy in impure hands. So what makes a good man? Is it the vaults he fills, or the values he plants? Maybe being a good man Isn’t just about what I leave behind, But who I am – while I’m still here.
